Using Pinterest to Build Business and My Freshmen Friday Blog Party

Hi Everyone!  Welcome to Freshmen Friday!  Today’s Topic:  Pinterest!

Have you hopped on the Pinterest wagon yet?  Are you as obsessed as I am?  I could spend hours pinning fabulous new décor ideas, recipes, crafts, and even new fashion!  Today, I do not want to talk about pinning in general.  More specifically, I would like to talk about Using Pinterest to Bring Traffic to Your Blog, Site, or Business!

First of all, if you are not familiar with Pinterest.com and would like to be, feel free to stop by my previous post “Pinterest.com Invite and Tutorial” for a basic outline of what this site offers and how you can get started.

If you are familiar but aren’t a member or are on the wait list, feel free to leave a comment on this post or send me an e-mail to HomeSavvyAtoZ@gmail.com.  I will be happy to send you an invite!

Today, I would like to share how much Pinterest has helped me increase traffic to my site.  If you have been visiting Home Savvy for a while, you may remember this chocolate lava cake I made a few months back:

Well, I pinned this picture to my “Baking” board on Pinterest and got 350 visitors as a result of that pin alone!  Since then, I have made a habit of pinning my own photos as I post them.  You can either pin your photos to a folder dedicated to only your site or pin them to your other folders which may pertain to the post (i.e. recipes, decor, crafting, etc).  Either way, Pinterest is a great way to increase your site’s exposure!   I recommend you visit your archived posts today (start with your favorites) and start pinning away!  Recipes, DIY, crafting, decor, advice, tutorials… if you were proud enough to post it, be proud enough to pin it!  🙂

Alright, that is my rant for this week.  I am looking forward to watching my Pinterest boards fill with new pins from my favorite bloggy friends.  🙂  If you are on Pinterest and we aren’t connected yet, I would love to hear from you!  You can find me here.

** Disclaimer – If you are not familiar with Pinterest, proceed with caution.  Pinterest may lead to severe addiction, cause blindness from overexposure to stimulating DIY projects, and can make the hands of a clock move faster than usual.  🙂  I am teasing of course, but really… Pinterest rocks and can be addicting!  **

Now, on to Freshmen Friday!  If you have partied here before, skip ahead to the link up.  The rules are all the same.  If you are new to my Freshmen Friday Party, this link party is for new bloggers who have either been blogging for less than a year OR have fewer than 150 followers.  If you fit one or both of those criteria, this is your opportunity to shamelessly promote yourself by posting a link, directly to your blog using your button, to giveaways, to parties… whatever (appropriate) link your heart desires!  I am hoping this will be a unique party that will promote new friendships, make new bloggers feel comfortable asking any question, and I am hoping we all learn a few tips along the way.

Some of the previous Freshmen Friday posts include:

How to Be a Visible Blogger

I would love for you to come back on Monday as well to link up to my Savvy HomeMade Monday blog party for bloggers of all ages and sizes.  (I hope you know what I mean by that… I am referring to your blog size of yours…ha.)

The guidelines for today’s party are:

  1. The link party portion of Freshmen Friday is for new bloggers who have either been blogging for less than a year  OR have fewer than 150 followers.  If you fit one or both of those criteria, this is your opportunity to shamelessly promote yourself by posting a link to a post, directly to your blog using your button, to giveaways, to parties… whatever (appropriate) link your heart desires!
  2. I would love for you to become a Google Friends Connect follower of my site using the “Join This Site” button in the right column of this screen.  If it isn’t there, hit refresh and it should appear.
  3. I would love if you would “like” my Facebook page by clicking here.
  4. I would really appreciate you linking back to this party and/or telling your friends about it!  The more the merrier right?!?
  5. Visit your fellow partiers, share the comment love, and become followers of sites you enjoy!
